Wow, I haven't even finished my Japan Trip 2000 page totally, but here I am working away on my Cali Trip 2001 page. Weird, huh? Yeah, I have a tendancy to start things and not finish them. Oh well.
Tue. 05/08 |
Well, the whole trip was supposed to start around 1:20 AM on Tuesday morning, but the bus didn't end up getting to the station until around 2 AM. I departed, and took a bus to Cali. Nothing exciting and nothing worth talking about. It was uncomfortable, and I kept to myself. I listened to music and read things I brought to keep me occupied. |
Wed. 05/09 |
I arrived in Claremont, CA around 4:00 PM. I was tired, smelly, and hungry. I hadn't eaten for about a day. Nevertheless, I was excited and happy to be in California for the first time ever. The weather was sunny and a little hot. I was wearing long white pants and my zip up hoodie, which I shed in favor of my shirt underneath- a plain white shirt. I felt kind of dumb wearing a white shirt and white pants, kind of like a Backstreet Boy or something. Oh well. We drove around to the DAV to run some errands, and then back to Casey's dorm. Casey lived with this guy named Kent. He was infamous for being... well... Kent. I can't describe it. The first thing I noticed was that Kent's side of the room was almost immaculate, and Casey's was messy as hell. Messier than my dorm was. Messier than my room was. That's messy. So, I waded in and dropped my stuff off. I took a much-needed shower and we were off to eat. Eating was funny, because apparently you need a student ID to eat. I didn't have one. I guess you can figure out the problem. So, instead of entering through the front door and making up some fake story, I just jumped the back fence and snuck into the dining hall. Yum yum, my first real food. I forget what I ate, but it was awkward sitting there eating with a bunch of people I don't know. I'm not great around people I don't know in the first place. Oh well. I forget what I did that night. I guess I probably slept or something. |
Thurs. 05/10 | We were supposed to go to Universal Studios today. Casey and I both woke up at... late. We didn't go. We ended up filling our day somehow. I think we played basketball or something. Of course, I sucked. Another day, another hopped fence and another free meal. Oh, I think we went to see Freddy Got Fingered with some of Casey's hallmates. It was a fun time had by all. We went to sleep, determined to go to Universal tomorrow. |
Fri. 05/11 | Universal today! We woke up all extra-early to catch the early train to the subway station to catch the early subway to the shuttle to catch the early shuttle to Universal. Universal was pretty awesome. We started out taking the Studio Tour which was cheesy, but I got to see the Clocktower from Back to the Future, so I was happy. We went on some rides, Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, and watched the Waterworld show which was a lot better than I thought it would be. Lots of explosions and dudes throwing water on the audience for no good reason. Can't beat that. At one point in the day we decided to get wet, so we went towards the kid-oriented Nickelodeon section. This is where the high point of the day occured. There is this huge room with platforms on the sides. Throughout the whole room there are millions of colored nerf balls. With these balls you could do many things including simply throwing them, shooting them out of a air-powered gun, and dumping them into a barrel that was connected to an automatic gun that spat 5-6 ball bursts out from the top of the structure. That was fun. |
