A Year-End Look-Back-at-Things Special (2001 edition)

This year has flown by. Really. I don't know where it has all gone, it seems just like a stepping-stone year. Like this year is leading to something... something next year, hopefully! Next year seems cool, with the Japan Trip 2002 and me going to college (maybe). But let's not get ahead of ourselves. 2001 was a good year too. Even though nothing really special happened, I did go to college all year and even took a trip to California for a few weeks, which was fun! Well, let's get started here.

January I guess the year started with New Years, right? Last New Year's Eve was spent doing a whole lot of nothing. Ryan was working, so Josh, Greg, and myself were stranded here at my house with not much to do. I remember watching the countdown on TV, and my dad came in and wished us a happy new year. Then, off to Perkins we went to celebrate with a New Year's midnight snack. I remember calling Ryan on the cell to see when he would be done working. We ate, and the onion rings made me sick because of all the grease. I was actually on a diet then, but I let myself go for that one meal. The diet was a no carbohydrate diet which was extremely hard to stick to, because I couldn't eat bread or anything like that! I stuck with it from the end of December to the middle of January, then I gave up.

The rest of January was spent going to new classes at DMACC, a new college. It felt refreshing to get back to school after working full-time for three months. I was taking fun classes and everything had slowed down so that I had some time to think about my future and things. There wasn't much more going on in January, I don't think. So, on we go.

February Another lonely Valentine's Day. Oh yeah, this is about the time that I met HB online. I found out she went to Iowa State, where all the GTG (good-time gang) goes. So, I started hanging out there a bit. It was a nice change. Also, I think this month was when Greg and I were hanging out with Yoshimi and Yoriko. I went on a date with Yoriko. Hehe. Anyways, weird stuff happened that I don't even know about, and I don't talk to either Yoshimi or Yoriko anymore. However, HB is a good good friend, and I'm really glad I met her. Man, I haven't even known her for a year!

March I'm starting to think this month-by-month thing wasn't such a great idea. March is when I started working for QT, a job I took because I could not find another job. Don't get me wrong, I tried and tried, applying to many many places, but no place hired me. QT seemed alright from the start, nothing extraordinary. Customers were jerks to me, and still are. Some customers are nice, though. I don't know what else was going on in March.

April Umm...

May Oh yeah, now something I remember! May was the month when I went to California to visit Casey and the crew. It was really an awesome trip. I took a bus out there, and it took two days! It was definately an experience. Once out there, I stayed with Casey in his dorm, and met all his friends. It was cool meeting new people, and we all had a good time. I think I had more fun afterwards, however.

Casey and I took a plane to San Francisco. It was fun, because I like riding in airplanes. We stayed at Casey's friend Alex's house there, which was pretty cool. It was really hilly and you could look out from Alex's street and see some of SF, and it looked really cool! I liked it. We just hung out and went around seeing some sights. After a few days with Alex, we met up with my online... well, sister Min Jung who lives in Oakland, just a quick jaunt across the Bay Bridge. We played some street ball with some of Alex's friends beforehand, and were a little late to meet her, but it was cool. We went out to eat and then went to her house, which I must say was really really really awesome. It was up in the mountains, and all huge and stuff! I think she called it the Ski Resort, and it looked like one, minus the snow... and skis and stuff. Anyways, hanging out at her place was real cool, they even had Puzzle Fighter there!

Min Jung showed us the ropes and even let Casey AND Alex stay! It was a great time, and everyone was really cool... so when we left it was a sad time. Casey and I took a train back to Iowa. It took a day and a half, I think. It was quite boring. The night before we arrived at like 3 AM we had to get off our train, board a bus, take a bus for an hour, and get on another train. It's exhausting just thinking about it! But we finally made it back and everything was cool.

I think that's about it for May, the trip was during the second half of May so when I got back it was almost June time!

June Summer classes started in June, and I was taking two of them. One of them was a one-month class, Environmental Conservation. I took it with Ryan and Greg and it was actually a fun class! We took field trips two times a week to lots of fun places, and I'll never forget the Waste Treatment Plant! Ryan and Greg know what I'm talking about. *wink* Anyways, that class was actually fun, and there was this hot girl in it that talked to us, and a weird funny guy named Brian. I guess we'll never see them again, but for a month we were all like family. I guess my June was just filled with classes and stuff, so no time for fun. June is also the time (I think) when Badgemen broke up officially. I would be angry about it until I realized I shouldn't be, which took way too long. Oh well. Everything's cool now.

July Happy Birthday to me! I turned 19. That was the highlight of the month, I think. Nothing much happened.

August Oh yeah, somewhere in here Casey and Mark and myself were planning on opening a Boba Tea shop here in Des Moines. It went from an actual storefront near Drake to a trailer at the Iowa State Fair. Needless to say, we were really into it, then we were not. Maybe we will venture into that business sometime later in our lives, but for now the Boba stays in Cali.

August was full of the end of summer. I don't remember much about it, but I did start DMACC again for the Fall term sometime near the end. I was still working at QuikTrip.

September Classes were in full swing. I thought they'd all be easy, so I decide to turn it down a few notches and lay low. I think this was probably a dumb mistake. By midterms I thought I was doing awesome, but it turns out that I didn't do so great in most of my classes. Oh well. We also got bombed, but enough has been said about that.

October When was the first EatF show? I think sometime in October Eric and the Floaters (EatF) started practicing. It was a pretty cool thing, since being in a punk rock band is what it's all about nowadays! Right? October also had Halloween, and I guess it's also the time I got my digital camera. I love my digital camera.

November Ahh, the year is coming to a close! November was when Thanksgiving was. That's all I can remember.

December Hooray! I finally made it! Of course I did the last half of the year pretty half-assed. Nothing big has been happening, though. December was cool because I got a Gamecube. It was one of the most impulsive things I have ever done, buying that Gamecube. Oh well... I also got my new webpage in December, the one you are reading right now! Oh yeah, and the year ended.

I guess that's it. My 2001. It's pretty half-assed near the end and maybe I'll update it more. Hope it was fun. That's my year.
